How much does it cost to run an Orange Sky van for a year?

Homelessness in Australia remains a pressing issue, but it is a problem with a solution. By embracing a compassionate and proactive approach, we can do better – transforming lives and strengthening our community.

If you attended Ready24, you might have been lucky enough to pay a visit to the Orange Sky backyard.

The team of volunteers gave up their time to bring one of the Orange Sky vans to the event, and talk to attendees about their commitment to providing free laundry and shower services to anyone in need and offer a welcoming community space for those experiencing loneliness or isolation.

Orange Sky has more than 60 regular services across the country, with presences in metro and regional communities, remote communities, and communities affected by natural disasters.

Thanks to Ready24, and the 1,200 REA Group customers that came together from across the country, $400,000 was raised for organisations working to end homelessness, with $100,000 going direct to Orange Sky.

This donation, combined with REA Group’s annual partnership funding, was used to fund the operational costs of an Orange Sky van for a year.

Orange Sky’s laundry and shower vans operate in parks and alongside partner organisations all across the country. All vans are solar powered, and have Waru Dryers onboard to reduce their environmental impact.

With a year of sponsorship from Ready24, Orange Sky will be able to provide 3,120 loads of laundry, 2,080 warm and safe showers, and a massive 4,160 hours of meaningful connection.

Orange Sky returns as a Community Partner for Ready25.
